Upgrading ChartNote v2.00 to v3.10
**********************************

PRECAUTIONS:

ChartNote v3.10 patient file structure is different from v2.00,
so files created with v2.00 will need to be converted if you
wish to use them in v3.10. However, the v2.00 file MUST use a
unique ID# for each patient. If you did not define unique ID#s
in v2.00, then converting the file will not work.

ChartNote v2.00 stores information in a single data table, meaning
that patient information such as name, date of birth, ID#, and sex
are stored along with visit information such as date of visit and
note section text in the same record. So, when a record is marked
for a particular user-defined label, it is essenially marking the
visit for that label.

In ChartNote v3.10, patient information is stored separately from
visit information in it's own table. Labels now apply to the
patient information, and definable visit types may be used to
mark the visit information.

Because of these differences, labels from v2.00 may not translate
well for use in v3.10. When running the v2.00 to v3.10 file
conversion program, you will be prompted as to whether or not you
wish the labels to be updated to v3.10. If the labels you defined
in v2.00 do not make sense being associated with patient
information, then do not select to update them.

UPGRADING CHARTNOTE v2.00 TO v3.10:

1. Install ChartNote v3.10 using the .SIS installation files as per
instructions in the accompanying "Readme.txt". This will
install the ChartNote program, three OPXs required for it to operate
(dbutils.opx, data.opx, and sysram1.opx), and the the sample templates,
QuickStart tutorial, and the letters template.

2. Copy the program "Upgrade.opo" to your Psion.

3. If you wish to convert any v2.00 patient files for use in v3.10,
you will now need to create an empty v3.10 ChartNote file for each
v2.00 file you wish to convert. If you do not wish to convert any
v2.00 files, then go on to Step 4.

To create an empty v3.10 ChartNote file, go to the System screen
and select the "New File" button from the toolbar. In the
"Create new file" box, select "ChartNote" for Program and enter
the name for your v3.10 file in Name. Upon pressing "OK", ChartNote
will launch and create the new file. Immediately exit the program
by pressing CTRL-e. If you have more than one v2.00 file to convert,
repeat the process to create another empty v3.10 file (there should
be one empty v3.10 file for each v2.00 file you wish to convert).

4. Run Upgrade.opo by double-clicking on it with the stylus.
This program will relocate a few files that ChartNote uses, and
then give you the option of upgrading patient files (SEE NOTES
ABOVE REGARDING PRECAUTIONS). None of your original v2.00 files will
not be changed or deleted by the upgrading process. So once you are
certain that your files have been upgraded correctly, you may then delete
your v2.00 files. Now you are ready to chart away with ChartNote v3.10!
